Deuterium depleted water is sometimes referred to as the “elixir of life”.
The people in Abkhazia and Yakutia are known to have long life-spans, retaining their stamina and vitality throughout their long lives. During the study of glacier water, they discovered another major difference between glacier water and other surface waters: glacier water has lower natural deuterium-levels. As far as the anti-aging effect of deuterium-depleted water is concerned, the study of the American Kirk Goodall, member of the NASA Mars Pathfinder program, published in 2003 entitled “In Search of the Fountain of Youth” with the subtitle, “Deuterium’s Role in DNA Degradation” yielded exciting results.
The goal of the study was to identify opportunities for the human exploration of Mars, since one of the main issues to be resolved is the high level of cosmic radiation that astronauts are exposed to on their way to and returning from Mars. The radiation leads to the appearance of free radicals in the body, which can lead to a rapid increase in DNA errors in replication, which result in the aging of the body, diseases and death.
The author summarizes the studies that show a close connection between the life expectancy of the body and the function of DNA cells. As a result of this, Goodall demonstrated a correlation between the aging of the body and the irrevocable DNA errors in the replication process according to which, beyond a certain point, the accumulation of errors impairs the function of the DNA.
Goodall comes to the conclusion that the deuterium concentration of the cell is directly correlated to the possibility of errors in DNA sequences, thus the lower the deuterium concentration, the smaller the chance of irrevocable errors in the DNA structure.
ONE OF THE FINAL CONCLUSIONS OF THE STUDY IS THAT THE USE OF WATER WITH LOW DEUTERIUM CONTENT AND THE CONSUMPTION OF FOODSTUFFS PRODUCED WITH LOW DEUTERIUM WATER CAN SUCCESSFULLY BOOST THE RESISTANCY OF THE HUMAN BODY TO EXTRAORDINARY LIVING CONDITIONS.
As to whether the mechanism controlling the biological effect, thus the increase of the deuterium levels of the water in the cells is what leads to the aging of the body, or the other way around, that deuterium-depleted water produces some kind of biological effect, or perhaps both is true, remains a question that is yet to be resolved.
According to hypotheses, the biological effect of deuterium-depleted water is directly related to the atomic interactions of the human body and the inter-cellular enzymatic processes, yet it is also possible that simply the harmful, cellular-level deuterium bonds are replaced by hydrogen bonds, which leads to the inhibition of the biochemical signals necessary for the replication of damaged cells. Therefore, we can say that a deuterium-depleted environment is more appropriate to the functional demands of living cells.

What is deuterium?
Hydrogen's atomic number is 1, thus all hydrogen atoms contain exactly 1 proton. Deuterium is a naturally stable hydrogen isotope with an atomic mass of 2, i.e. it consists of 1 proton and 1 neutron. The ratio of the isotope is 1:5000 occurring in nature, i.e. 1 part of deuterium with 5000 parts of hydrogen.
Normal water consists of a combination 2 hydrogen and 1oxygen atoms (H2O), yet when deuterium forms a bond with water, it produces a compound known as heavy water (D2O), which is mainly use to moderate fission in nuclear power plants. One might say that heavy water is a free radical that damages the human body.
What is deuterium-depleted water?
Deuterium depleted water is sometimes referred to as the “elixir of life” or “light water”. This water has a hydrogen atom deuterium isotope (D) concentration lower than normal water.
The average deuterium concentration of water in Europe is around 143-150 ppm and the deuterium concentration of water in the human body is proportional to the average values typical of our geographical location.
